Hello hello! I'm excited to start this new Weekly Update tradition for all of us. It will be a great way for me to keep posting more frequently and better for all of you since these are quick and easy to read :) So let's get started!
My week:
I have finally acclimated to the school schedule! Although my motivation is lower than previous years, which we have senioritis to thank for that possibly, I am relatively on top of school work. The only thing that feels out of control is college applications, deadlines, and scholarships. My final 5 colleges are K-State, KU, TCU, Arkansas, and Loyola Chicago. I don't really have an inclination toward any of them in particular, so donating my time equally to their processes is essential, and because of that, it is hectic and exhausting.
Outside of that, I have been enjoying the school musical (which is The Music Man), and had a fun time with some of my friends this weekend. I went to our home football game Thursday, out to sushi on Friday, and hosted a brunch for my choir class on Saturday morning. I also babysat Saturday night and had a Colon Cancer Awareness 5k this morning. Now I am catching up on what needs to be done before this next crazy (but hopefully good) week starts. This week was busy, but much better than a few rougher weeks before it.
Weekly challenge for you:
Be there for somebody.
Find someone who needs support, love, or a friend. Reach out to them through social media, text, or in person. Invite them to something, check on them, or include them in something you are doing. If you don't physically find a person in your path or see someone reaching out on social media for help, then message an old friend and see how they are doing. It will mean oodles to them and will make your week to improve someone else's.
Bible Verse:
"Let us not love with [only] words or speech, but with actions and in truth."
James 3:18
What to get DONE:
Prioritize self care.
Get your nails done, go get a haircut, and maybe even get a massage. Do a hair or face mask, shave, exfoliate, and take a bath. Drink a detox tea, eat what is good for you, and hydrate. Meditate before bed, journal, and talk through something bothering you. Show up for your mind and body this week, because they do so much for you.
What to AVOID:
Living too much in your routine.
To an extent, routines are good. Your sleeping and eating routines for instance, are good. However, more often than not, we can get so far into our daily and life routines, we just run through the motions. This week, live intentionally and don't be afraid to break out of your schedule or norms. Focus on your surroundings and truly invest your time rather than trying to get to the next place or get the next thing done.
Quote:
"Time is your most precious gift because you only have one set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can't make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back. Your time is your life [so be intentional with it]"
-Rick Warren
Thanks for reading, and have an awesome week!
